George Grosz, Rudolf Omansen und ein Huhn
Wie es zur letzten Illustrationsfolge von George Grosz kam
An extraordinary historic document: Shortly before his death, George Grosz created a series of ink drawings based on “The Uncanny Chicken,” a story written by his doctor and friend Rudolf Omansen. What sounds humorous at first has a bleak background – it is the confrontation with the psychological traumas caused by National Socialism, under which Grosz suffered more than any other exiled artist. After more than 60 years, the artist’s last illustrations are now finally published – alongside the haunting short stories by Omansen, and contextualized by Grosz expert Ralph Jentsch.
